  • This is a fundraising event for the CALABAZAS LIBRARY. Please help the cause by attending the concert.

The Calabazas Library not only provided services for the residents of San Jose but also the entire Indian community because of their very strong collections in many Indian Languages.

Our first effort to fundraise for the Calabazas Library is a result of the passion of Badri Krishnan. As a budding Veena artist, Badri is passionate about music and contacted two very well known and talented musicians, Ragavan Manian and Nachiketa Sharma. They agreed immediately to perform a jugalbandhi, to be held at the Jain Temple hall. Alice, Rohit and Robert provided many other services including designing our website and flyer for this event.

Shri Ragavan, an expert in Carnatic music, has performed in many cities and festivals, including the Cleveland Tyagaraja Aradhana and South India Fine Arts. Shri Nachiketa Sharma has extensively performed in cities across India and the United States.

The concert is expected to last at least about 3 hours, and seat at least 500 people. We are deeply grateful for their contribution.

All proceeds will go to the San Jose Public Library Foundation, to be used for the Calabazas Library. It will be a major source of funds for the GROW organization, the San Jose Public Library Foundation, and ultimately, the Calabazas library. The money will go towards furniture and supplies, as well as books and other materials to continue to help foster education for children, teens, and adults alike, like the Calabazas Library has done for years.

Please take a look at the enclosed flyer for more information about the Jugalbandhi concert.
